Former Hebron official charged with larceny

A former Hebron school superintendent wanted on a larceny charge turned herself in to state police Thursday at Troop K in Colchester.

Eleanor Cruz, 63, of 85 River Road, Essex, was charged with first-degree larceny following an investigation into her alleged embezzlement of town funds while working in Hebron. She is now the superintendent of schools in Plymouth, Conn., according to published accounts.

State police investigators had obtained a warrant for Cruz’s arrest.

Cruz turned herself in at 8 a.m. Thursday. She was released on a $6,286.36 cash bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 26 in Rockville Superior Court, police said.
