Branford Public Schools (BPS) will welcome students back Thursday, Aug. 28 for a full day of school, followed by a full day on Friday, Aug. 29. There will be no school on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.
Branford Public Schools include pre-K through grade 4 at Mary T. Murphy Elementary School, Mary R. Tisko Elementary School, and John B. Sliney Elementary School; grades 5 to 8 at Francis Walsh Intermediate School (WIS); and grades 9 to 12 at Branford High School (BHS).
There are no changes to school start times. Classes begin at 7:30 a.m. each day at BHS, where final period dismissal time is 2:25 p.m. Students at WIS are in the building from 8:05 a.m through dismissal at 2:50 p.m. Branford's elementary students start at 8:50 a.m. with a 3:25 p.m. dismissal.
According to the BPS school calendar for the 2014-'15 academic year, "Back to School Nights" are set for Sept. 9 (elementary schools), Sept. 11 (BHS), Sept. 17
(WIS grades 5 and 7), and Sept. 23 (WIS grades 6 and 8).
