Water crisis handled well by NL officials

I want to note my appreciation for the actions of the mayor of New London, New London Housing Authority, the Red Cross and everyone who was involved in the water emergency that occurred at 202 Colman Street, George Washington Carver Apartments, on Aug. 13 and 14.

Because of Mayor Finizio's quick action, a major problem didn't get out of hand. It was handled rapidly. It could have been much worse had it gone unnoticed.

Sue Shontel, director of the New London Housing Authority, was on top of the problem the entire way. She got the Red Cross here, supplied us with plenty of water and brought all tenants a bagged meal for dinner.

Also, great job by our property manager, Jennifer Carrion. She was here from start to finish making sure everyone was taken care of with plenty of water. Sound Community Services of New London deserves recognition for putting on a beautiful spread the next morning for breakfast.
