Nature center reveals home-schooling program

Mystic — The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has announced its Home School Program for the 2014-15 academic year. Called Eco Explorers, the program includes hands-on activities, educational games, and standards-based learning using the nature center’s property and animal collection.

The program is for children ages 5-12, who are grouped according to age. Programs are held the second Tuesday of the month from October to May from 1:30-4:30 p.m.

The cost is $15 per session or $120 for the year. Advance registration is required by contacting Education Director Molly Check at (860) 536-1216, Ext. 20, or mcheck@dpnc.org.

Home-schooling program

Oct. 14: Survival Skills – Learn the basics of fire building, construct a primitive shelter, and learn valuable skills that can keep you alive in a survival situation.

Feb. 10: Birds

March 10: Freshwater Life

April 14: Herpetology

May 12: Flowers & Pollinators
