New London – City police on Wednesday arrested a Lebanon man who allegedly forcibly sexually assaulted an underage girl at a family gathering in New London.

David Prentice, 22, of 1300 Trumbull Highway, Apt. C, Lebanon, was charged by warrant with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and first-degree unlawful restraint. Held in lieu of a $500,000 bond, Prentice is due to appear Thursday in New London Superior Court.

The arrest was made as the result of investigation by the department’s investigative services division following reports of the assault. The victim was interviewed by members of the New London County Multi-Disciplinary Team and Department of Children and Families.

The victim alleges that Prentice “restrained her by using force and sexually assaulted her” at a family gathering in late August, police said. Prentice confirmed the victim’s statements in an interview with detectives, police said.
