This past Labor Day, workers in Connecticut had an extra reason to celebrate. Earlier this year, Gov. Malloy signed legislation increasing the state's minimum wage. After years of laboring for wages that have not kept up with increases in the cost of living or inflation, workers in Connecticut are finally getting a pay raise. Every day, thousands of workers in Connecticut go to work at full-time jobs but still struggle to support themselves and their families. Earning the minimum wage, these workers often are forced to forgo basics or even rely on public assistance to make ends meet. I applaud Gov. Malloy for putting the needs of working families first and signing a law that will bring a little relief to hardworking people.
