Tribal police arrest man accused of stealing $18,000 worth of chips from Mohegan Sun casino
Mohegan — Tribal police on Wednesday arrested a man who they say reached across a gaming table Monday and stole 36, $500 chips totaling $18,000.
Robert Piscitello, 33, of no certain address, was charged with second-degree larceny and possession of narcotics.
Police said shortly after several images of the suspect were released to media outlets, they received numerous calls that helped identify him. Tribal police additionally were contacted by detectives from Plainfield and Norwich who also helped identify him.
Police said a search warrant for Piscitello’s arrest was issued and he was found at 1596 Hartford-New London Turnpike in Oakdale. They said he was found in possession of a small quantity of cocaine.
Police said they recovered $14,500 in stolen gaming chips. Police said the chips were not redeemable.
Piscitello is being held on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Norwich Superior Court.
