    An apple a day, the teachers at Regional Multicultural Magnet School in New London say

    New London - Second grade students at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School all take a bite out of an apple as part of the school's first "Apple Crunch" Friday. Under the direction of Kitchen Manager Karrie Smith, groups of students filed into the cafeteria and were given a Gala apple from Blue Hills Orchard in Wallingford to mark "Food Day", which was created by the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest, (CSPI), to promote safer, healthier diets, support sustainable and organic farms and reduce hunger, among other goals.
