Foxwoods' October slots revenue down; Mohegan Sun's even

Foxwoods Resort Casino’s slot-machine revenue tumbled again last month, while Mohegan Sun’s kept pace with the same month a year ago.

Figures released Saturday by Foxwoods and posted online by the state Department of Consumer Protection’s Gaming Division show that after paying out prizes, Foxwoods “won,” or kept, $39.7 million in slots wagers in October — a 5.6 percent decline over the $42.1 million the casino kept the same month last year.

Mohegan Sun, which was not expected to announce its October slots revenue until Monday, reported to the state that it won $48.9 million last month, two-tenths of a percent less than the $49.0 million it won in October 2013.

Foxwoods’ October “handle,” the total amount bet on its machines, dipped seven-tenths of a percent, falling to $477.2 million. Mohegan Sun’s handle declined 1.8 percent to $581.9 million.

A month ago, Foxwoods reported a 19.6 percent decrease in its September slots win, one of the largest year-over-year declines in its history. Mohegan Sun was down 6.9 percent.

Foxwoods sent $10.2 million of its October win to the state, while Mohegan Sun turned over $12.2 million.
