Groton woman charged with unemployment compensation fraud
Authorities on Friday arrested a Groton woman on charges she illegally collected more than $11,000 in unemployment compensation benefits.
Pamela K. Shaughnessy, 58, of 12 B St. faces one count of first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community and one count of unemployment compensation fraud. Both charges are felonies.
The arrest is the result of an investigation by the unemployment compensation fraud unit of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. The state Department of Labor made the initial complaint.
Shaughnessy fraudulently collected $11,440 in unemployment benefits from June 2012 through June 2013 while she was employed, according to a statement from the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office.
Free on a $10,000 non-surety bond, Shaughnessy is scheduled to appear Dec. 2 in New Britain Superior Court.
