UConn women back in action today after rare loss

UConn's had nearly a week to digest a rare defeat, an overtime loss at Stanford on Monday that ended a 47-game winning streak.

The Huskies (1-1) expect to start another one today when they play their home opener against Creighton (1-1) at Gampel Pavilion (1 p.m., SNY).

The Huskies won't play another game in Connecticut until Dec. 19 when they face DePaul at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. In between, UConn plays three games in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida over the Thanksgiving weekend and visits Notre Dame on Dec. 6 in the Jimmy V Classic.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis leads the Huskies in scoring (21.0) while All-American Brianna Stewart (19.4 points, 8.1) is off to a solid start along with sophomore Saniya Chong, who has bounced back from an up-and-down freshman season to average 16 points and 4.5 rebounds through two games.
