    NFA defeats New London 63-40 to earn Class LL playoff bid

    New London — Quarterback Jawaun Johnson rushed 24 times for 303 yards and seven touchdowns, including five in the second half, as Norwich Free Academy cruised to a 63-40 victory over New London in their Thanksgiving Day game to qualify for the Class LL playoffs.

    Khaleed Exum-Strong had 26 carries for 303 yards and two touchdowns for NFA (7-2), which also won the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division title with the win.

    New London, meanwhile, finishes the regular season 7-3 and its postseason hopes won’t be known until the weekend when some postponed games around the state are played.​
