Pre-game preview: Texas
Here at Gampel Pavilion for showdown between No. 24 UConn and No. 7 Texas.
Just found out that Rodney Purvis (ankle) and Omar Calhoun (knee) are not expected to play today, according to UConn.
Both players participated in practice Saturday. There was a better chance of Purvis, a starting guard, being available today, than Calhoun.
Depth will be an issue for the Huskies today.
The Longhorns also will be missing a key player with starting point guard Isaiah Taylor sidelined with a broken wrist.
Today's game is the first of four important non-conference games in the upcoming months.
UConn plays Duke Dec. 18 in New Jersey and visits Florida Jan. 3 and Stanford Jan. 17.
