Malloy to re-appoint Smith to lead DECD
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said he intends to re-appoint Catherine Smith as commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development when his second term begins Jan. 7.
"During the last four years, Connecticut has experienced record growth in the private sector of more than 70,000 jobs - the best period of private sector job growth since the 1990s," Malloy said in a press release. "But we cannot stop there. Catherine has been a fierce advocate on behalf of Connecticut and I am very pleased that she has agreed to continue her work with our state."
Smith began the position as the head of the state's economic development agency in March 2011.
