    Valley/Old Lyme stuns Ansonia 21-20

    New Britain – Quarterback Chris Jean-Pierre's four-yard touchdown run with 22 seconds remaining rallied top-seeded Valley Regional/Old Lyme to a 21-20 victory over No. 2 Ansonia in their Class S-Large state championship football game at Willow Brook Park on Saturday morning.

    Jared Roche broke the 20-20 tie with his third extra point as the Warriors finished 13-0 and won the first state title in program history.

    Jean-Pierre ran eight yards for another score and threw a 40-yard TD pass to Evan Smith, all in the fourth quarter. Jean-Pierre rushed for 127 yards on 25 carries in his final game.

    Tajik Bagley has rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns for the Chargers, scoring on an 18-yard run with 2:58 left in the first half and from 13 yards with 3:33 left in the third quarter.
