    New London police looking for three suspects in assault

    New London – City police are seeking three suspects in an assault and robbery Sunday on Bank Street.

    The incident occurred at 7:11 p.m. Sunday when police responded to 268 Bank St. for the report of a man being assaulted by three  men, according to a statement from Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard. Officers arrived to find the victim on the ground with facial injuries being treated by city firefighters.

    Witnesses said the victim was walking in the area when he was approached by the three men who hit him, knocked him to the ground and began to kick him while he was down, police said.

    The three men stole the victim’s backpack and fled towards Blinman Street. The unidentified victim was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
