Saint David's church hosting annual Christmas meal

Ledyard — Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Gales Ferry will hold its 26th annual Christmas Feast on Christmas Day. From 1 to 3 p.m., the church will be serving, among other things, turkey, ham and pie.

Over the past 25 years, said Sandi Brown, Saint David’s outreach chairman, the Christmas Feast has grown – the church now provides more than 600 meals, some by takeout or delivery.

Brown said the submarine base helps with cooking the turkey and ham and New London’s Community Meal Center, Homeless Hospitality Center and Covenant Shelter provide rides to Gales Ferry.

“Everyone is served with a meal, and they leave with a take-out meal, new and gently worn, clean clothes and new toys,” Brown wrote in a news release. When meals are delivered, they are accompanied by warm clothes and toys, she said.

The church’s feast will be held Thursday, Dec. 25, at 284 Stoddards Wharf Road, Gales Ferry, in a handicapped-accessible facility. Home delivery is available anywhere in New London County.

For delivery, a ride to the church or to volunteer, call Saint David’s at (860) 464-6516.
