Sterling woman charged with possession of drugs
Sterling - Kaila Burditt, 25, of 1097 Plainfield Pike was charged Monday with possession of narcotics, narcotics outside their original container and five counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Around 7:30 p.m. Monday, state police and the Plainfield Police Department executed a narcotics-related search-and-seizure warrant after an investigation revealed that Burditt was selling heroin from her home, police said. When police entered the home, Burditt was in the kitchen with several other individuals. Police found five young children ranging in age from 9 months to 7 years in the house. Various narcotic prescription pills were located outside the original containers, and were within reach of the children, according to police.
Burditt was taken to the Troop D barracks in Danielson and was released on a $25,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Jan. 8.
