    Eversource service didn't brighten day

On March 18 we lost power around 4:30 p.m. We immediately called the Eversource (CL&P) toll-free number to report the outage. As always, we had to listen and respond to all the computer prompts before it was clear that the outage was identified. We were then reminded that power is usually restored within two hours and that we could get updates by texting "outage24612."

I did text twice for updates, and there was no response.

After being without power for over an hour, we went out, and on the way we saw downed wires on Route 163, guarded by Montville emergency personnel. We saw no evidence of Eversource. At 7:40 p.m., we received a computer generated phone message saying that power was restored at 6:29 p.m. It was not restored, so I drove to the scene to talk to one of the linemen, and all I could learn was - it would be a while.

When I returned home I called the toll free number, again, and learned the power would be restored around 11:15 p.m. and shortly after there was an update of 12:15 a.m. The power was finally restored at 12:15 a.m.

I hope there is a better tomorrow for us, and Eversource.
