Shania Twain brings tour to Mohegan Sun

    But, Shania, you're only 49!

Shania Twain — the singer who, man, feels like a woman — says she's doing her very last national tour. Aren't these things usually reserved for 60-plus performers?

Besides, we all know farewell tours are rarely REALLY the last time out, but Twain contends that's her intention. She wants to spend more time writing and recording. She's gearing up for a new album, which would be her first studio release since 2002's "Up!"

Her tour — which comes to Mohegan Sun Arena Friday — is her first national tour in more than a decade. And she's pulling out the rock-show/spectacle stops — some pyrotechnic tricks picked up, no doubt, when she spent two years performing at Caesar Palace in Las Vegas.

The tour's opening act is Gavin DeGraw, who, based on a couple concerts I saw by him a few years ago, is a mighty fine performer. It should be a dynamic concert all the way around.
