Heart-less: Ann Wilson goes solo at the Kate

Ann Wilson is a rock goddess. Her voice is a wild force of nature that powered Heart through a succession of hits, including "Barracuda," "Magic Man" and "Alone." She may be 65 now, but Wilson is still a fierce talent — as folks with tickets to see her Tuesday concert at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center will learn.

For the rest of us, well, tickets are sold out, so it's back to listening to your original "Dog & Butterfly" album.

Wilson's calling her show "The Ann Wilson Thing," and she'll be doing non-Heart songs primarily. She told People magazine last month that this new tour was going to explore diverse songs, including some off her solo album "Hope and Glory," but it would feature perhaps one Heart song, if that. But, still, to hear Wilson turn her voice on some blues with a rock edge? Bring it on.

"The Ann Wilson Thing," 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; sold out.
