Movie company refund proved its quality

The Groton Cinema's closing last month was a surprise to many of us when we opened The Day, "Groton movie theater closes without warning," (Aug. 24). The tone of the article was such that I feared it would take the proverbial act of Congress to get a refund of the unused portion of a $100 gift card that I had purchased for my son.

Regardless, I pursued the refund by contacting the theater owner, Belmont Capital of Cambridge, Mass. and I was pleasantly surprised. The president of the theater division, Mark Benvenuto, was genuinely bereft that the closing came to pass and said that they diligently tried to keep it operating but to no avail. He insisted on refunding the monies remaining on my son's $100 gift card.

Belmont Capital appears to be a quality business that tried their best to make a success in Groton to no avail. Hopefully, they will be more successful in future endeavors in southeastern Connecticut.
