    Local soccer roundup: Vikings rally past Wildcats for OT victory

    East Lyme — Stephanie deLaforcade's second goal of the game came 1:03 into overtime and capped East Lyme's 3-2 victory over Old Lyme in a nonleague girls' soccer game on Saturday night.

    Old Lyme (4-1-2) led 2-0 at halftime on goals by Bianca Tinnerello and Mya Johnson. Haley Ashton got the Vikings (10-0) on the scoreboard and deLaforcade tied the game with 9:32 left in regulation. Hayley Sorrentino made seven saves for East Lyme and Katherine Pettersen made 16 saves for Old Lyme.

    H.S. boys

    • James Foster scored twice and Nick Ghirardi had an assist as East Lyme handed Old Lyme its first loss of the season, 2-1. Michael Trailor had eight saves for East Lyme (8-1). Graham Aird scored, Danny Cole had the assist, and Cam Dean-Frazier had seven saves for the Wildcats (5-1-3).

    • Fitch scored all of its goals in the second half, beating Wheeler 4-0 in a nonleague game. Tyler Cady, Matt Kerst, Jacob Parizo and Logan Baldoz scored and Jonathan Cobena and Frank DelCampo had assists for Fitch (2-6-1). Alex Haines made 15 saves for Wheeler (0-8).

    College men

    • Andrew Nigro scored three goals as Mitchell College beat Southern Vermont in a New England Collegiate Conference game, 7-0. Andrew Storton, Cody Poirier, Robert Pullan and Waterford's Yianni Longinidis also scored for Mitchell (4-5-1, 2-0).

    • Connecticut College battled to a 1-1 tie with New England Small College Athletic Conference foe Williams College. Williams opened the scoring in the 72nd minute and Conn tied it six minutes later on Matthew Mitchell's unassisted goal. Austin DaCunha made four saves for Conn (6-2-1, 3-2-1). 

    • Coast Guard fell to MIT in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game, 1-0. Freshman goalie Billy Bragaw, the former East Lyme standout, made eight saves for Coast Guard (3-8, 1-2).

    College women

    • Smith College beat Coast Guard in a NEWMAC game, 2-0. Rachel Boohar made four saves for Coast Guard (5-4, 1-2).

    • Mitchell fell to Regis in a NECC game, 1-0. Katie McBride made seven saves for Mitchell (1-4-2, 0-2).

    • Conn College fell to Williams College in the NESCAC, 2-0. Alex Santiago made four saves for Conn (1-4-3, 0-2-3).
