Car crashes into house in Stonington Borough
Stonington -- A woman was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after police and fire officials say she crashed into a parked car and then a stone house adjacent to St. Mary Church in the borough.
The woman’s name and condition were not available Sunday afternoon but she was reported to be conscious after the 6:48 a.m. crash.
According to Fire Chief Jeff Hoadley, it appeared the woman’s car struck a parked car on Broad Street in front of the church which in turn struck another parked car. The woman continued across Main Street where her car went over the sidewalk and struck the house at the northeast corner of Broad and Main streets. A picket fence, stone wall and bushes were damaged. Hoadley said a window in the house was damaged and items were thrown to the ground.
The cars were towed from the scene. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
