Norwich — The Chestnut Street Playhouse in Norwich is performing the Pulitzer- and Tony-winning drama "Doubt: A Parable" through June 26, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday.

The play, written by John Patrick Shanley, is set in a Bronx parochial school in 1964. A progressive priest (played here by Patrick Robinson) clashes with a tough, traditional mother superior (played by Linda MacCluggage).

In the 2008 movie adaptation, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep played those roles.

Also in the Chestnut Street cast are Casey McDougal and Aurelia Clunie.

The production is directed by Hunter Parker, a director-actress-teaching artist based in Virginia who is back in this state, where she had worked for three years at Hartford Stage.

Tickets are $20. Call (860) 886-2378 or visit chestnutstreetplayhouse.org. The theater is at 24 Chestnut St.
