    EMPLOYMENT NEWS

    William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty has named Heather Gagnon as director of business development for the firm, based out of the company’s four Connecticut shoreline brokerages in Essex, Guilford, Madison and Old Lyme.

    Gagnon will focus on training and coaching agents, hosting both group and one-on-one training sessions across the four brokerages every day of the week, in topics ranging from business planning to database management to lead generation.

    Her previous position at Navy Federal Credit Union involved traveling to universities along the Eastern Seaboard to host financial planning seminars. Born in Scotland and raised in Stonington, Gagnon lives in Old Lyme.

    Jennifer Seuferling of Groton has been promoted to branch manager of Chelsea Groton Bank’s North Stonington location. A native of North Stonington, she was previously assistant branch manager in Pawcatuck.

    Seuferling has spent the last nine years with Chelsea Groton. She has held many roles within the retail banking department, including head teller and customer service specialist.

    A graduate of Three Rivers Community College with an associate's degree in business administration, Seuferling also has completed a Center for Financial Training certificate as well as taking Chelsea University classes. She will graduate from the Connecticut School of Finance and Management in 2017.

    Christine Roberts has been appointed Head of Student Lending for Citizens Bank. Roberts has held several leadership roles at the company, in areas including sales, branch planning and operations and product management.  

    Sheri McNally has joined the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT as Membership Coordinator. McNally has more than 15 years of sales experience in the health and medical industries and owned a small business specializing in family fitness. McNally will focus on member recruitment and retention. She lives in Norwich.

    The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT has announced that in celebration of Connecticut’s Submarine Century, all Navy service members race free at the Sailfest Charter Oak Federal Credit Union 5k Road Race on Sunday, July 10 from 7:30-10 a.m. at New London’s Parade Plaza.     GRAND OPENING

    The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for The Granite Group in Groton on Thursday, June 30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The  open house will feature vendor booths, door prizes and a catered barbecue lunch.     GRANTS

    Charter Oak Federal Credit Union recently donated office furniture to three local non-profits: the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, Waterford Country School, and the Stonington Community Center, Inc. More than 20 chairs, 10 file cabinets, and several tables were donated.

    Dime Bank Foundation has awarded $2,900 to the Eastern Connecticut Community Gardens Association to establish and maintain gardens in Ledyard, Montville, East Lyme, Norwich and Stonington.

    More than 90 community gardens in eastern Connecticut are currently producing fresh, organic and healthy fruits and vegetables for local residents’ own consumption. Excess produce from the gardens is donated to shelters, food pantries, senior citizen centers, veteran’s organizations and other social service entities.

    Established in 2011, the gardens association collaborates with individuals and organizations to start and improve gardens throughout the region. The focus is on improving food security through organic high quality, nutrient dense practices and year-round gardening.

    The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is one of more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense.

    The program offers free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2016. Leadership support for Blue Star Families programming and promotional materials has been provided by MetLife Foundation.

    The Nature Center is located at 109 Pequotsepos Road, Mystic. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 pm. Sunday.
