    Truck seriously injures pedestrian in Norwich

    Norwich — Police are investigating after a truck struck a pedestrian on Water Street on Friday evening.

    The vehicle was traveling northbound on Water Street around 7:26 p.m. when it struck the victim. 

    The victim was transported by American Ambulance to the William W. Backus Hospital, and subsequently taken by LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

    The 63-year-old man was listed as being in critical condition at Hartford Hospital Friday night, according to police.

    Norwich Police's Accident Reconstruction team was conducting the investigation, and police have asked anyone who may have witnessed incident to contact Officer Nathaniel Tondreau or Officer Richard Cannata at (860) 886-5561, ext. 6.

    No further information was available.
