New York man arrested after Crystal Avenue home invasion
New London — Police arrested a New York man early Friday morning after he allegedly kicked open the door of an occupied apartment and attacked two people. The alleged victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
Talala Holder, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y., is charged with home invasion, two counts of second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, interfering with police and disorderly conduct.
The victims told police that Holder picked up a "grilling-type" fork and attempted to stab them with it. Holder struck one of the victims with the fork, but that person managed to fight off Holder and get him out of the apartment, according to police. The victim sustained small cuts to the arms.
While fighting in the hallway with the first alleged victim, Holder struck and kicked the head of the other alleged victim, who was assisting in getting Holder out of the apartment, police said.
Police said they responded about 2:12 a.m. Friday, located Holder a short time later in an apartment on the fifth floor and took him into custody. He was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained from one of the alleged victims.
