    Local roundup: Ledyard's Fletcher scores 1,000th career point

    Ledyard — Steven Fletcher scored 25 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as Ledyard finished its regular season an 81-27 nonleague boys' basketball victory over St. Bernard on Monday night.

    Isiah McNair scored 13 of his 17 points in the first quarter and Austin Brandt had 13 points for the Colonels (16-3), who led 51-15 at halftime.

    Hunter Baillergeon had 14 points for the Saints (8-12).

    In other games:

    • Mikey Buscetto made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Waterford a 68-65 road victory over Killingly in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II game. Buscetto finished with 30 points and 10 assists for the Lancers (17-3, 10-0), who led by nine at halftime but had to hold off the Redmen in the second half. Liam Spellman added 13 points for Waterford while Jeff Evans and Walker Sutman each had 10 rebounds.

    • Freshman Ajia Brown scored 24 points, including four 3-pointers, as Fitch held off Hartford Capital 59-56 in a nonleague game. The Falcons, who finish the regular season 6-14, were outscored 25-15 in the fourth quarter. Justice Farris added 16 points for Fitch.

    • Willie Brown had 27 points as Windham rolled to a 97-60 win over Wheeler in an ECC Division III game. Ryan Dussault had 29 points and 14 points for the Lions (4-16, 1-11) and Michael Anderson scored 18.

    Men's swimming

    • Taylor Rowe won the 1,650-yard freestyle on the final day to lead Coast Guard Academy to a second-place finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday at WPI. After finishing third in each of the last two seasons, the Bears trailed only MIT, 1,462-1,099. Rowe was timed in 14:47.11.

    Also placing for Coast Guard were Mike Franco in the 1,650 (third, 16:28.73), Chase Sodemann in the 200 breaststroke (fourth, 2:04.69), Ross Garrett in the 200 butterfly (fifth, 1:52.87), Owen Gibson in the 200 fly (eighth, 1:56.30); Patrick Jackson in the 200 backstroke (sixth, 1:54.19), Zach Baker in the 200 back (seventh, 154.25) and Andre Campbell in the 200 back (eighth, 1:55.36). CGA also added a fourth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:07.45) behind the team of Joe Rodriguez, Garrett, Brandon Ledford and Elliot VanDeren.

    Women's swimming

    • Coast Guard finished sixth in the NEWMAC Championship, which ended Sunday at WPI. MIT won the event with1,422 points while the Bears finished with 483. On Sunday, Kristen Young placed third in the 100-yard freestyle (52.89) while Addy Rutkoske was fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.49), Cece Marzinsky was fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:11.48) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Christine McCulla, Jackie Kokomoor, Marzinsky and Young was fifth in 3:34.62.
