Realtor awards presented to LaJoie, Davis and Stoll
Ryan LaJoie, a real estate professional with Johnston & Associates in Thompson, was named this month by the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors as Realtor of the Year and Young Professional of the Year.
Just having turned 30 last year, LaJoie celebrated his 10th year in real estate and was named to the National Association of Realtors 30 Under 30 list. He earned his real estate license at age 20 after graduating from Eastern Connecticut State University and serves currently as ECAR's treasurer, along with being on the association's finance committee and strategic planning committee last year.
At an awards banquet March 15 at the Holiday Inn Norwich, LaJoie was one of several people recognized. Others were Kip Davis of Tiger Home & Building Inspections, named Affiliate of the Year, and Genevieve Stoll of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services New England in Mystic, honored as Rookie of the Year.
At the event, organizers noted LaJoie last year joined the ECAR Masters Club by generating sales volume of $12 million.
"I enjoy it," LaJoie said in a statement. "At the end of the day, we are providing the American dream of home-ownership — which really doesn't get a whole lot better than that."
Davis, like LaJoie, has served on a variety of ECAR committees and has been a member of the association since 2005. A graduate of the University of Vermont, he spent a year in Vietnam before joining First Bank, rising to a vice president level as he earned a master's degree in business administration.
He later started an executive search firm and then, in 1997, joined Tiger Group, specializing in business development.
Stoll, an ECAR member since October 2015, has closed 13 sales and 15 rental transactions in her short time as a real estate agent. She also volunteers at Sails Up 4 Cancer, Navy charities and Berkshire Hathaway's Sunshine Kids initiative.
In addition, it was noted that Carol Christiansen of RE/MAX Realty Group in Gales Ferry has been chosen as the local nominee for the statewide Realtor of the Year Award.
Christiansen, a past ECAR president and realtor of the year, has been active with the local association for two decades.
