Groton police arrest three men in BB gun fight
Groton police arrested three men Friday after one shot one of the others with a BB gun.
Police responded to a call about a fight on Indian Avenue about 10:30 p.m. There witnesses told them that Michael A. Smith, 22, had shot Michael J. West, 26, and West’s car with a BB gun earlier in the night.
West and another man, Brian Wright, later confronted Smith about the incident on Indian Avenue, and the three started to fight.
Police found a BB gun and a stun gun in Smith’s car.
Smith, who lives at 162 Mitchell St., was charged with second-degree assault, breach of peace, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon in a vehicle, third-degree criminal mischief and sale, and carrying or brandishing of a facsimile firearm. He was released after posting a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 2.
West, who lives at 245 Benham Road, Apt. 1, was charged with breach of peace and threatening and held on a $2,500 bond. Wright, 27, of no certain address, was charged with breach of peace.
