“American Ninja Warrior” will be wrapping up with its Season 9 finale at 8 p.m. Monday on NBC. Those who have been keeping up with the show will know that New London native and Ninja Warrior Samer Delgado won’t be gracing TV screens next week. That isn’t to say, however, that he didn’t come close. Even though he was a rookie, he made it far in the competition — fighting his way to the Las Vegas finals. But after falling from an obstacle during his last appearance on the show on Sept. 11, he was eliminated from the competition. Delgado is planning to try out again for the show’s next season, which will start in the summer of 2018. “That experience was completely life changing, 150 percent. It’s something that’s unbelievably surreal,” Delgado says. “It was always something that I wanted to do and something I knew I could do, and I proved myself right. If I’m on my A game and if I train hard, I know can make it to Vegas again.” — Mary Biekert
