    Echo Montey of Norwich has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Finance at CorePlus Federal Credit Union. She started at the credit union in 2006 as a participant in the first Summer Internship Class program. She has held various positions in branch operations, Member Service & Support, and Accounting, all while furthering her education. She is a 2010 graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She received the 2011 CorePlus PLUS Award, a recognition of “Positive Leadership, Unselfish Service” from her peers.     The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will host its next Business After Hours networking event on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Granite House, 75 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford, co-hosted with One and Company and A Thyme to Cook. The event will feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, and a door prize drawing. This event will take place partially outdoors, weather permitting.     RIBBON CUTTING

    Groton Utilities has scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a private and public community partnership that produced three solar farms in the greater Groton community. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Polaris Park, the site of the largest of the three solar farms. The other two solar farm sites are Trident Park and Pelican Park.

    Among the expected speakers for the event are Capt. Paul Whitescarver, Commanding Officer, Naval Submarine Base, City of Groton Mayor Keith Hedrick, and a representative from Balfour Beatty Communities.

    CERTIFICATION

    Ann Irr Dagle, President of the Brian Dagle Foundation, has recently earned a Death and Grief Studies Certificate by completing 150 hours of training from the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado. Course studies included Comprehensive Bereavement Skills, The Depression of Grief, Understanding Suicide Grief, Exploring the Spiritual Dimensions of Grief, and Comprehensive Bereavement Skill Training.

    The Brian Dagle Foundation offers support groups for loss to suicide, loss to addiction, and the loss of a child for parents and grandparents. In addition, Dagle provides individual grief counseling. All groups and individual grief programs at always free.

    GIVING

    Charter Oak Federal Credit Union donated $10,000 to the New London Rotary Foundation in support of rebuilding the Pavilion at Ocean Beach Park, which was destroyed by Super Storm Sandy in 2012. Last November, The New London Rotary Foundation announced its plans to provide $150,000 as seed money for the rebuilding project in support of their 100th Anniversary.
