The reconstruction of a 100-year old vehicle, a design improvement made possible through duct tape, and a partnership with a collection of ski resorts were among the items promoted by automakers recently.

[naviga:li]To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Mitsubishi has recreated a model that first debuted in 1917. The automaker says the vehicle will make a televised debut on an episode of "Inside West Coast Customs;" the episode, which tracks the progress of the build from conceptualization to the first drive, will air on Nov. 6 on Velocity. West Coast Customs in Burbank, Calif., built the Mitsubishi Model A on the automaker's Outlander platform. It also incorporates a number of modern features including forward collision mitigation and smartphone display audio.[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Duct tape played a role in the redesign of the 2018 Ford Mustang, the automaker recently said. The automaker shared the story of how the prototype vehicle was not cornering as well as computer models projected. Engineer Jonathan Gesek put a strip of duct tape over the front grille to reduce front-end lift, and engineer Mike Del Zio found that this modification helped improve handling. The fix resulted in changes to the Mustang's grille, which includes active grille shutters to reduce drag by closing off the grille at higher speeds.[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]GMC has announced an exclusive partnerships with Vail Resorts, which operates 14 ski resorts in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Under this agreement, Yukon XL Denalis will be used for complimentary vehicle service at the 13 North American resorts. The resorts will also feature vehicle displays and branding, and GMC will be the presenting sponsor of a number of resort events.[/naviga:li]
