Lyme Land Trust preserve near Hadlyme Four Corners now open
The Lyme Land Conservation Trust has opened the new Brockway-Hawthorne Preserve with a ribbon-cutting and citation by State Rep. Devin Carney, R-Old Lyme, on Sunday, Oct. 22.
The 82-acre preserve is located on Brush Hill Road, just south of Hadlyme Four Corners.
The property was purchased from the William and Anna Hawthorne family.
The idea was to conserve the property, with contributions from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition Grant Program and the “Hadlyme Challenge” donation drive.
Volunteers installed hiking trails throughout the preserve and connecting to the Selden Creek and Ravine Trail preserves.
