Jose Gonzalez, Friday, College Street, New Haven

You know how Robert Pollard of Guided by Voices releases 16 albums a year? That's not how it works with Jose Gonzalez, whose acoustic guitar songs are indelibly gorgeous, intricate and delicate. But it's been three years since Gonzalez released the excellent "Vestiges & Claws." The last studio recording before that was "In Our Nature," way back in 2007. Eight years is more like a hundred in pop music — but Gonzalez is impervious to change. That's a good thing. Some things SHOULD stay the same.
