Hall & Oates hit Foxwoods for Friday performance
Though out of the platinum spotlight, Daryl Hall & John Oates are never really very far from our ears. That's what happens when you have 34 Billboard hits, six platinum albums, and at least three songs with "Sara" in there somewhere.
Plus, thanks to his admittedly cool television show, "Live From Daryl's House," Hall has impressed with an across-the-stylistic-spectrum group of pals who show up at the titular domicile, jam, and have oft-witty conversation over huge Rock Dude Dinners. (Exception: watching the episode with Billy Gibbons, when Hall played E major for 17 minutes during a criminally over-long version of "La Grange.")
Anyhoo, yes, Hall & Oates are still relevant, and it's interesting how many hipsters — folks who used to retch at the mere mention of "Kiss On My Lips" — have actually come around with grudging respect for the soul-pop duo.
Myself? The fact that they made the "Abandoned Luncheonette" album alone makes H&O worthy of their 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. And if you've never seen them live, they're pretty tremendous. What a great band they have — and you'll freak at how many indelible songs they deliver. See for yourself Friday when they headline the Grand Theater at Foxwoods.
