    Foxwoods welcomes Brian Setzer Orchestra

Rock-a-billy star Brian Setzer performs in concert on Dec. 7, 2013, at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta.

On Friday, for the 11th year in a row, Brian Setzer brings his "Christmas Extravaganza" to Foxwoods Resort Casino.

The holidays are perhaps the finest time on the calendar for folks of all ages to suspend disbelief - and this particularly applies those festive tunes in Setzer's seasonal canon that fall within the lyrical context of his rockabilly persona. I'm thinking of "Dig That Crazy Santa," for example.

In the song, Brian implores us to not only "dig that crazy Santa," but also tells Rudolph to "cool it." In addition, Brian conveys that, once Santa comes down the chimney with his bag of toys, "all the little hepcats jump for joy."

Another Setzer Christmas original, though, is called "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus" and, frankly, the lyrics are a little disturbing. This time, Santa, y'see, doesn't seem particularly interested in bringing toys to children - er, little hepcats - and is far more intent on "boogying." I quote: "Got no presents for your tree / No candy for your socks / When (Santa) starts to boogie / The whole town rocks."

Hmm. Boogying = better than toys? Hell, I'll give it a shot!
