Mohegan Sun advances Korean casino plan
Mohegan Sun has finalized a “concept agreement” for the resort casino it hopes to develop in South Korea.
The deal, with the Incheon International Airport Corp., calls for development of a “gateway entertainment district” adjacent to the airport in Incheon. Dubbed the "Inspire Integrated Resort," it will lead a shift from shopping-based tourism to tourism driven by cultural attractions and entertainment, the partners say.
The first phase of development is expected to contribute $1.6 billion in foreign investment to South Korea. The partners must secure a series of approvals, including a gaming license from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
