Wages in state on the upswing
Connecticut workers started to see a pickup in wages last year.
According to the August issue of The Connecticut Economic Digest released Tuesday, workers' average annual wage was $63,909 last year, a 2.6 percent increase. Salaries only had risen 0.2 percent the previous year.
The average private-sector wage was $64,802, while government workers averaged $58,543 in pay.
Meanwhile, the state also saw increases in business establishments for the third year in a row. A total of 114,608 establishments were recorded last year, a rise of 0.8 percent from the year before.
Private establishments rose while government worksites fell by 0.7 percent.
