Developer: Perkins Farm project in Mystic clears biggest hurdle
Mystic — Developer David Lattizori said Wednesday that his proposed development of the Perkins Farm property cleared the biggest of the three zoning approvals it needs when the Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday night unanimously approved a master plan for the project.
Plans call for developing half of 71 acres into a medical and academic campus with apartments and condominiums. The rest would remain open space. The project would become the town’s largest taxpayer, generating an estimated $1.3 million year in tax revenue and creating several hundred jobs.
The commission already had approved a floating zone for the property and Lattizori now needs the commission to approve a site plan.
Lattizori said he intends to submit the site application as well as seek a permit from the Inland Wetlands Commission within the next few months. If those are approved, he said he hopes to break ground on the project, which would be built in phases, by the end of the year.
