Port Authority announces RFP for State Pier

The Connecticut Port Authority announced on Twitter on Thursday that it has released a request for proposals "seeking parties interested in developing, financing and operating State Pier in #NewLondon under a long-term operating agreement."

The port authority believes the pier is an underutilized asset and is inviting respondents to improve, develop, finance and operate the facility to accommodate a wide range of opportunities, including the staging of wind turbine components and the introduction of new commodities and cargo types, according to the release.

The request for proposals is available at bit.ly/CTPortsRFP. Responses are due by 4 p.m. Aug. 10.

The request follows Gov. Dannel Malloy's May 29 announcement of a $15 million investment at State Pier for infrastructure improvements. Malloy said an operator will be chosen by fall.
