    Women's basketball

    • Defending national champion UConn will take on Florida State in the Hall of Fame Women's Holiday Showcase on Friday, Dec. 11, at Mohegan Sun Arena. Florida State finished the 2014-15 season 32-5 with a trip to the Elite Eight.

"We are very excited to be returning to Mohegan Sun Arena,” said John L. Doleva, president and CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. "It's truly a top-notch facility that we know both the players and fans will enjoy. We look forward to a great game between two of the top women's programs in the nation."

The two programs last met in December, 2010, with UConn winning 93-62 to claim its 89th consecutive win, surpassing college basketball’s record for consecutive wins previously held by the UCLA men.

Last season, the top-seeded Huskies defeated No. 2 Notre Dame 63-53 on April 7 to secure the 2015 national crown. UConn finished its historic season with 37 straight wins, claiming both the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles en route to the national championship.

"It's an honor to play in an event sponsored by the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame for the third straight year," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. "Florida State has a lot of talented players returning from a team that advanced to the Regional Final of the 2015 NCAA Tournament and I'm already looking forward to this early-season test.”

Game time, television details and ticket information will be released at later date.
