Sun take road tour to Dallas on Sunday

The Connecticut Sun have spent much of their season in airports and hotel rooms. Only the Atlanta Dream have played as few home games (four) as they have.

Traveling may be fun for vacations or work, but the road will own you in pro sports. In the case of the WNBA, just three of its 12 teams have winning road records thus far.

The surprising Sun happen to be one of those three. They play their eighth road game Sunday afternoon at the Dallas Wings (4:30 p.m., College Park Center).

Connecticut (6-5) is on a five-game winning streak and won six of its last seven games.

The Sun are 4-3 on the road. That includes giving the Minnesota Lynx their only loss (98-93, June 17) and outlasting the New York Liberty’s wild fourth-quarter run on Friday night for a 94-89 win.

“You’ve got to steal road wins if you want to be a playoff team,” Connecticut head coach Curt Miller said. “(Friday) was a huge win for us. Now we know that we can play against the best.”

Dallas (7-8) is on a three-game winning streak. Guard Skyler Diggins-Smith (17.7 ppg, 5.6 apg) made a franchise-record seven 3-pointers and scored 30 in in Friday’s 81-69 win over the winless San Antonio Stars. Post Glory Johnson has been a handful inside. She’s shooting 46.3-percent and averaging 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds.
