    Sun's Jones named second team All-WNBA

    Mohegan — Connecticut Sun forward Jonquel Jones was named to the All-WNBA second team on Friday.

    Jones, a 6-foot-6 forward, had a record-setting season for the Sun in just her second professional season. She set single-season WNBA records with rebounds per game (11.9), 403 total rebounds and 280 defensive rebounds.

    Jones, who played in her first WNBA All-Star Game and was later voted the league's Most Improved Player, also averaged 15.4 points as Connecticut earned its first playoff berth since 2012. She also tied for the WNBA lead with 20 double-doubles and became only the 13th player in league history to record a 20 point, 20 rebound game during a victory over Chicago,

    Jones was the fourth-leading vote getter among forwards (106 points) in the voting by media. New York's Tina Charles (166 votes) and Los Angeles' Candace Parker (137) were the first-team forwards while Sparks' Nneka Ogwumike (135) joined Jones on the second team.

    The first team was headlined by league MVP Sylvia Fowles of Minnesota at center. She led the voting with 195 points and was joined by Charles, Parkers and guards Skylar Diggins-Smith of Dallas and Maya Moore of Minnesota.

    The second team included Jones, Ogwumike, center Brittney Griner of Phoenix and guards Chelsea Gray of Los Angeles and Diana Taurasi of Phoenix.
