This gentle yoga class is open to everyone. Beginners will be able to try a new practice while more experienced practitioners can expect to receive additional instruction to help build energy and awareness in the body and mind.
For the past year Lisa Uihlein has been leading this class, and students appreciate her individual attention and her holding of our yoga space. Lisa is the owner/operator of Turning Point Yoga in Madison, and we're thrilled to be working with her.
Classes begin with deep breathing to cultivate awareness of the breath, and with warm-up movements to encourage the flexibility of the body. Following this, Lisa will guide students through the sequence of postures that have been practiced for thousands of years and are known to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body.

“Wednesdays in Lent” at St. Paul Church, Old Saybrook,
Begin February 29
Wednesday evenings during the Lenten season at St. Paul Church, Old Saybrook, will feature conversations on the topic, “Baptized We Live,” a opportunity to reflect on the meaning and call of living as followers of Jesus in the world.
The Wednesdays in Lent series will begin on February 29 and continue through March 28. Each gathering will begin with a light soup supper at 6:00 p.m. The “Baptized We Live” conversations will start at 6:40, with a liturgy for Contemplative Prayer concluding the evening at 7:30.
Recognizing that Lent is a season of renewal in the faith, the “Baptized We Live” series will provide participants a refreshing way to hear again how God calls God’s people through baptism into new ways of seeing, hearing, living and serving. Each session will begin with a video presentation by Daniel Erlander, well known Lutheran pastor and theologian whose wise, plain spoken yet heart filled articulation of a new way of living in Christ provides much insight and encouragement. Erlander’s very readable book, “Baptized We Live,” which he wrote and illustrated, will be made available to all participants in the series.
This Lenten season opportunity for community building, learning, prayer and worship is open to the people of the shoreline area. St, Paul Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is located at 56 Great Hammock Road, Old Saybrook. For more information call the church, (860) 388-2398, or check the church website: www.stpaul-elca.org
