Get a bug’s-eye view of some backyard insects in the Mashantucket Gallery’s newest exhibit. Giant robotic insects, up to 96 times their normal size with lifelike colors and movements, dominate the exhibition. Hands-on displays let you take a mechanical insect for a walk, build a bug, and learn how insects communicate. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members. Playhouse on Park will be holding auditions for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by William Finn and Rachel Shienkin. This production is being directed and choreographed by Broadway veteran Susan Haefner. Versatile Union/Non-union actor/singers are encouraged to audition (movement, improvisational and comedic skills are a huge plus for all roles). Local auditions will be held Sunday, March 9th. All actors are paid. Please email Sean Harris, Artistic Director at Sharris@playhousetheatregroup.org with your headshot and resume, and he will set you up with an audition time as well as send you the sides for the audition. Come and enjoy winter and very early spring while experiencing the beauty and solitude of the lower Connecticut River. Although our primary mission is to search for and observe migrating and resident Bald Eagles, we will also search for many other varieties of local winter wildlife. A seasoned, experienced naturalist will talk about eagle biology and ecology and about the other wintering birds and wildlife that will be seen on our cruise. A heated cabin, coffee/tea and binoculars are on board. We will Cruise from Haddam South and see Lyme, Chester, Deep River, and Essex.
