Studio33 presents “Life’s a Beach”, a collection of paintings by local artists Gigi Mezzo Genovese and Andrea Wiley. Both women focus their paintings on shoreline centric scenes; with Andrea highlighting the beauties of the marshes, beach & lighthouses, while Gigi focuses on making the everyday beach scenes playful, something you might otherwise overlook. The medium each women works in panders particularly well to their individual styles, with bright saturated acrylics in Gigi’s cheerful scenes and soft, thick oil paints capturing Andrea’s peaceful viewpoint. The show is not one to miss, running from July 2nd through the 30th.

This exhibit is held Saturday, June 28-Saturday, October 18 and explores the dramatic changes that occurred to bison and its habitat, and to the people who depended on it for their daily existence. The Bison features Plains Indian objects, contemporary Native art, popular culture items, small models and sculptures, natural history materials, and vivid images. The Fiddle Camp of Southeastern Connecticut is a creative environment to encourage the discovery of new techniques and music and to enhance learned repertoire in Suzuki and Fiddle methods. The Fiddle Camp provides group violin lessons focusing on Suzuki books I through 4, as well as Cape Breton fiddle, Appalachian fiddle and Improv/Jazz. All ages and levels are welcome and foster an appreciation for different styles and skill levels through positive reinforcement. The core intention of this program is to share the joy of music.

Bushnell Farm’s wigwam is the base for this week’s exploration of Connecticut Native American life. Spend a week exploring the art, culture and daily life of Native Americans in the 1600s. Find out how Native Americans and early settlers related. Help prepare a tree to be a dugout canoe, make a wigwam model, create pottery and other containers, cook on an open fire and much more!
