The Mystic & Noank Library Ames Room art exhibit for August 2014 features a local group of plein air artists. The artists meet weekly at a variety of locations in southeastern Connecticut, working in oils and watercolors.

The artists represented in the exhibit are: Karin Bastidas, Carmel Bourneuf, Mary Carey, Toby Hohenstein, Brenda Manning, Joyce Maurice, Janvier Miller, Ray O’Connell, Dan Potter, Betsy Broughton Shafer, Nina Stimson, and Peggy Traskos.

Local beekeeper of over 20 years, Steve Dinsmore will present a brief history of bees and beekeeping in the US. He will discuss the various factors contributing to the decline of the honey bee population and the ramifications on our food supply. He will include some initiatives that are underway to reverse the trend. He started with 2 hives but has grown to over 100. Honey will be available for purchase.
