The donations will help many families with food and gifts for the holidays and beyond. Basics such as canned goods and other sustenance items like pasta and cereal, clothing and hygiene products are needed.
Any cash collected will be used to buy needed supplies and gifts for children for this Christmas season.
Those able to help are asked to make checks payable to Montville Social Services and mail or drop at Montville Social Services, 310 Norwich New London Turnpike.

Works are all priced under $200 to be especially affordable for the holiday season, so that individuals can present a truly unique heart-felt gift to the important people in their life. Art=Gift features an exciting array of pieces from fine artists and craftsmen such as James Stidfole who will present his exquisite bowls made by woodturning. Prints of plant cell patterns by Liz Green will be shown. Vibrant paintings created by local artist Katie Fogg will also be available for sale. This truly unique and festive show will include sculpture, photography, printmaking and oil paintings to wood block prints, ornaments and more.

The Lyme Art Association’s most festive art exhibition and sale is their annual Deck the Walls holiday show, on view November 11, 2016 through January 6, 2017. More than 200 original works of art by member artists will be on display and priced to sell as holiday gifts. All subjects and mediums will be featured. The opening reception on Friday, November 18, from 5-7 pm, is free to the public and will feature live music. All painting purchases from 5 pm on Friday, November 18 through 5 pm on Saturday, November 19 will be tax-free.
The Lyme Art Association is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 – 5pm, and by appointment.

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation's 33rd Annual Holiday Gala at Mohegan Sun begins with a reception at 5:30, featuring hors d'oeuvres and bottomless champagne, along with one of the region's largest silent auctions.
The cocktail hour is followed by a decadent dinner and dessert buffet over a live auction with professional auctioneer Sam Petrowsky and Master of Ceremonies Kevin Hogan of Channel 3 Eyewitness News.

Proceeds from this event remain local, and support children's charities throughout eastern Connecticut. We are hoping to make this year's gala an even bigger success than last year, and hope you will join us in this effort!

Homes for the Holidays House Tour

The Old Lyme Children’s Learning Center will host a house tour on Dec. 10. “Homes for the Holidays” begins at 11 a.m. at the Old Lyme Town Hall, 52 Lyme St. The self-guided walk features six decorated Old Lyme village homes, including the recently renovated Old Lyme Histrical Society building. A holiday boutique in the town hall will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Advance tickets are available for $25 at www.olclc.com and eventbrite.com, and at the Old Lyme Children’s Learning Center and the Chocolate Shell, both located on Lyme Street. Tickets the day of the event are $30. The tour will be held rain, snow or shine. Proceeds will benefit OLCLC enrichment programs. OLCLC is a non-profit early childhood school and child care center. The New London Community Orchestra will present its annual holiday concert.
Selections will include Egmont Overture, Op. 84, by Beethoven, Thais Meditation, by Jules Massenet with Linda Suriyakham as soloist, Slovonic Dances, Op. 46, No. 4, by Antonin Dvorak, and Carmen Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet. A selection of holiday music rounds out the program with Carol of the Bells, A Christmans Festival by Leroy Anderson and a carol medley.
The concert features a collaboration with players from the orchestra’s Music City Strings program of free violin and cello lessons, will play along with the orchestra as well as in their own ensemble.
As part of their core mission, the orchestra runs a program of free violin and cello lessons at the Public Library of New London and at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School. The suggested donation is $10.

Teresa Whitaker is a singer/songwriter/storyteller and arts educator whose delicate and earthy voice conveys nuance and punch. Frank Schwartz is a gifted singer and songwriter who has played many styles of music. He was also a founding member of Maryland’s famous Irish band O’Malley’s March. Performing arts partner with the Yale Center for British Art and the Metropolitan Opera Education Conference.

Santa will be collecting non-perishable food items, new toys and monetary donations while spreading holiday cheer right in your neighborhood; 100% of all donations collected will be forwarded to the Waterford Youth Services Bureau for distribution to local families in need.

Montville Social Services local food bank serves more than 600 Montville residents monthly and is great need of donations. The donations will help many families with food and gifts for the holidays and beyond. Basics such as canned goods and other sustenance items like pasta and cereal, clothing and hygiene products are needed.
Any cash collected will be used to buy needed supplies and gifts for children for this Christmas season.
Those able to help are asked to make checks payable to Montville Social Services and mail or drop at Montville Social Services, 310 Norwich New London Turnpike.

The Lyme Art Association’s most festive art exhibition and sale is their annual Deck the Walls holiday show, on view November 11, 2016 through January 6, 2017. More than 200 original works of art by member artists will be on display and priced to sell as holiday gifts. All subjects and mediums will be featured. The opening reception on Friday, November 18, from 5-7 pm, is free to the public and will feature live music. All painting purchases from 5 pm on Friday, November 18 through 5 pm on Saturday, November 19 will be tax-free.
